Amy-Jayne’s Trip to the City

Hi there! I haven’t blogged in forever and a half, but Britts has finally let me have ago. Obviously she hasn’t realised how truly good at this I am. Well anyway.

So over in WA we have a public holiday to day. It was a long weekend, so we got Saturday and Sunday off school like normally, plus Monday, which I think is a pretty good deal. Because Britts didn’t have to go to school we decided to go to Perth city! We had to sit in the car for what felt like hours, because it’s so far away. I read Nancy Drew and looked out the window, so it wasn’t too boring.

When we got to the city we visited a park. We don’t have any pictures, but it has a really cool spinning swing that is like what I think a ship must be like. It sways everywhere!

After we played for a bit we went for a walk around the river. We crossed the Narrows Bridge, which was really scary and fun. It was super windy and the cars go so fast!

After we crossed the Narrows we came across this little underpass thing. It’s a really pretty blue colour and it has red and yellow tiles that are circles.

We kept walking and walking. My legs got so sore!
After ages and ages and ages and forever when finally got in sight of the Bell Tower!
You can just see it in the background of this picture!
The Bell Tower is so cool! It looks like the sails of a ship. And the bells sound so pretty! They played Waltzing Matilda! It was amazing! We couldn’t go inside because the line was soooo long, so we had lunch on the grass by the shore of the Swan River.
Isn’t it pretty? We had so much fun running around on the grass with the sound of the bells in the background! It made me want to practice my dance steps on the grass! I did for a little bit, but so many people were looking at me, and I didn’t want to mess up. It’s hard to dance on the grass!
After lunch and a long play it was time to go home. We walked past the Bell Tower to the ferry. Perth has public transport ferries. It’s like taking the bus or a train, only on the water! The camera battery died before we could take a picture, but it was so much fun! You could look out the window and see all the choppy waves! I’m glad I don’t get seasick!
After we got off the ferry we walked to the car and drove all the way home. I am so tired, but it was worth it!
 Love, Amy-Jayne

Today I drew this picture of Matilda in Photoshop. Do you like it? I personally think she looks a bit shocked, but I’m still pleased with it :P

foamlunch

Lots of people have been asking me for ideas for making doll food from foam. Here are some ideas I came up with for a full lunch!

  • A sandwich made from craft foam, wrapped in foil
  • yellow foam cut into strips and put in a glue lid as chips
  • Brown foam wrapped in foil for a yummy chocolate
  • small lollies, made from beads

I hope you like my ideas! What doll food have you made?

2nd Birthday Stuff and Ask Britts

In just over a week I’ll be celebrating 2years of Australian Girl Fan dot com! I’m really excited, and I’ve put together a couple of surprises to celebrate. (Think music video and free stuff!)

I’ve got over 100 followers and subscribers now, and I’m having trouble replying to comments and emails reliably, so I though it would be fun for me to put together an ask Britts video for my websites 2nd birthday!

Here’s how it works :)
Ask me anything you want! It can be about dolls, blogging, me, whatever! (if it’s personal I won’t answer it. Sorry, I’m not too fond of stalkers!) You can ask me as many questions as you like!
You can send your questions to me via comments, emails, YouTube, twitter (@australiangirld), or my Facebook page. Please make sure they’re all in to me by the 21st of April!
I’ll make a video to answer all your Questions!!

Doll Room Decoration: Make a window

When you’re making a room for your dolls windows are one of the hardest thinks to make ‘real’. Today I’m going to show you how to make an easy and realistic window for your doll house.

20120411-111732.jpg
You will need:
•A sushi mat. (You can often find these in places like IGA or Red Dot. )
•Sticky tack. (You’ll need quite a lot)
•Pretty fabric. I used a piece of 4in lace, but you can experiment with anything.
•(this is optional) some ribbon

20120411-112214.jpg

Break your blob of sticky tack into three smaller blobs and stick a bit in the top corners of your sushi mat. Stick the other piece in the middle. Press the top of the sushi mat to your wall. The more sticky tack you use, the better it will stick.

20120411-112614.jpg
Drape your fabric over the top of the sushi mat like a curtain. Attach it by poking a bit of the sushi mat through a hole in the fabric. (If your fabric doesn’t have holes in it like my lace does, cut a small hole on each corner)

20120411-112915.jpg
You’re done! You can now use some ribbon to tie the curtains back!

Outfit Tuesday #3&4

Well, once again Britts has missed a day! Sorry girls! I need to remember to take photos before dance! I also forgot today, because I thought it was still only Monday! Luckily I had a photo saved to my phone, so I cropped out the outfits that the girls were wearing. :)

I’m changing the way that outfit Tuesday works, too. Several people were confused, and voted wrong, so I’ve come up with an easier way.

every Tuesday I will post an outfit. I’ll give it a name and tell you where I got the clothes and shoes from. On the last week in the month I will post all the outfits together and you can vote for your favorite!

20120410-220945.jpg

The first outfit is called Autumn Flowers . It is made up of:
•The white tshirt from the everyday skirt set (I also removed the small bow from it)
•The flowery skirt from the Funky Comfy
•The Mary-Jaynes from the Funky Comfy

I like how this outfit is pretty without being super frilly and pink. It would be great for visiting friends!

20120410-222135.jpg

The second outfit is called Spring has Sprung. It is made up of:
•A flowery tshirt made by me, tucked up at the back.
•The white vest from the Vest Set
•A pair of flared jeans from an unknown source

This outfit is just what I would wear! It’s lots of fun, but still cute and girly!

Let me know what you think of the outfits in the comments!

P.S. a fun craft is coming up soon!

Happy Easter!

Outfit Tuesday #2

Hi girls! Time for another outfit Tuesday! Sorry that this wasn’t actually posted on Tuesday! I had an extra long dance class and ran out of time. :)

I was also hoping to do a Saint Patrick’s Day post, but once again, I had dance. To make up for it one of this weeks outfits is all green! :)

I’m doing 2 outfits this week so that there will be four outfits per month, even though I missed the first week of March.

Every Tuesday I will be posting a picture of one of my dolls modeling and outfit. Your job will be to rate it out of ten ! At the end of each month I’ll post the outfit that got the highest score!

20120321-230316.jpg

Rose is wearing a cute pink t-shirt with a butterfly on it. She is wearing a denim mini-skirt with decorative stitching (sewn by me). She has the pink canvas flats from Australian Girl on her feet! :)

AJ’s outfit is for St. Patrick’s day! She has on her meet skirt, a green t-shirt (also made by me), and Jasmine’s meet shoes with the bows removed.

Now it’s your turn! Leave a comment with a score out of ten for each outfit!

Shine on!

The World’s Greatest Shave

20120312-154628.jpg

Normally I don’t like to do non doll related posts, but I’m breaking the rules for a very important request.

Today a friend of my family passed away. He had been battling leukemia for over a year.

I am doing the World’s Greatest Shave to raise money to support families like his. The money I earn will be given to the Leukemia Foundation. The money will then be used for cancer research and supporting cancer sufferers and their families.

I’ll be dying my hair blue because it was his favorite color.

20120312-155428.jpg

My goal is to raise $100-enough to buy a doll (almost, I rounded it down).

I’d really appreciate any support-even if it’s only a couple of dollars.

To sponsor me visit: http://my.leukaemiafoundation.org.au/personalPage.aspx?registrationID=434805

Thank you all!
Love you!

(sorry if this looks odd-I’ve posted it from my phone)

The Australian Girl Academy of Dance Magazine

I’m sure by now most of you know that I am a girl of many crazy ideas. For those of you who didn’t know that, now you do.

One day a few weeks ago it occurred to me that it would be great fun to make a magazine for my fictional dance school that my dolls attend. I got together all of the dance related doll items that I had and began my photoshoot. I must apologise for the low quality of the pictures, my room has terrible lighting and the idea of lugging 5 dolls plus piles of clothes out to the yard was not particularly appealing.

To make the front cover I wanted a really nice picture, so I took Jasmine outside and took a picture of her in the nicer lighting (still not a great photo, but it could be a lot worse!)

Australian Girl Doll Jasmine Ballet

Jasmine dressed up in her leo and tights for the magazines front cover

all the girls dressed in there leotards. Which colour would you choose?

Fee and Jasmin modle some dance shorts (Both from Australian Girl) Would you choose pink or green?

Ballet must haves!

All competitive dancers have to have Jackets and bags that say what Dance school they dance for! The Australian Girl Academy of Dance has Pink and Green as their colours! How Pretty!

Don't forget dance shoes! You can get Dance Sneakers in AGAD colours, socks for beginner dancers, tights, ballet shoes/slippers, and plain white dance sneakers!

I hope you enjoyed our magazine! Do your dolls dance? If they do, would you send them to the Australian Girls Academy of Dance? What would you buy for them?

Shine on!
